Tunisia! Where to start? The most amazing holliday EVER!!! It all began while getting some revision done before my second exam, where Kaja and i ended up looking up hollidays online in stead. Good choice if you ask me
Suddenly we were going to Djerba for seven days, only three weeks later! Arriving in Tunisa was strange, since i’ve never been there before and it was elleven in the evening and we couldn’t see a thing. But the hotel was nice, and we got free welcome drinks while waiting to check in to the rooms.
The first day woke us with sun and heat. We desided to go have a look around the hotel before breakfast, and then go the beach. While walking there we met a guy driving a horse and a carriage, and since he worked for our hotel he drove us to the beach for free. We started talking, and i told him that i have a horse. So he asked us if we wanted to go on a riding trip to see the island, and we thought it would be a good idea. Therefor we stayed at the beach for a few hours (long enought for Kaja to get sunburned!) where we: – got to borrow the cellphone of the employee so that we could keep track of the time.
– got covered in saharasand
– saw at least 30 young tunisians arguing and throwing each other into the waves
– met the first camel of the vacation
– ran into the waves, freaked out because of all the seeweeds and ran back to the beach.
After eating some biscuits and getting dressed we ran to the horseguy who was waiting for us. He drove far away into some desertplace where he lived and where we got the horse i was going to ride. Poor animal, very skinny and very friendly
We rode in a “garden” for two hours, and saw nothing but sand and palms, before going into a town where we were taken into a shop and dressed in arabic clothes by a creepy old man. Then some kid took us on a tour through the totaly desertet town, before we went back to the “garden”. The whole trip was kind of a CATASTROPHE (;)) and we were exhausted when we got back. Therefor we just relaxed at the hotel before going to dinner and then to sleep.
Le deuxieme journee. Since Kaja got a nice pink collor the day before, our plan was to stay at the hotel and bathe in the pool. GOOD plan! We met all the guys in the hotels Animation Team; Kiwi, Abdel, Tchitcho and Farouk. Chaleur!! They had activities like water gym, volleyball, water polo (wich we won every day!) and dart, and it was so fun!
After some hours we took a walk on the beach, got lost and chased from a hotel, but found the way back at last. For dinner we went to the same restaurant where “Mr. Safe” was our waitor and promissed us to show us Djerba on friday. We also attended the fakir-show that les animateurs had on the hotel.
The rest of the vacation passed on like the start, we spent every day at the pool playing waterpolo and dart, attending water gym and sunbathing. Four out of six evenings we had dinner at the same restaurant and the two other times was une catastrophe! We took another walk along the beach one evening to find camels, but no luck. In stead we ended up getting lost again, in the back garden of some closed hotel, before walking REALLY fast back to Abir to make the show that evening. Les animateurs had a snakeshow, tunisian folklore danceshow, another danceshow and a dance-song-contest. And after every show: time to dance!!
I don’t remember when, but we met troi francaises, while playing water polo. Julia, Pierre-Jean and Nawel, vous me manke!! I miss you all so much!
On thursday we went to the disco and had tons of fun, and we also hang out the other nights and during the day. Saying goodby was un catastrophe (oh yeah, the words for this vacation is “CATASTROPHE!” “SABOTAGE!” and “CHALEUR!!” :)) and now Julia and i are trying to plan a new trip to Abir in august.
We also met some other norwegians, and we went to the marked in Midoun on friday and had so much fun getting things for less than half the price
I learned that the arabic people also shop like that, although they know what prices are good or not, unlike the touristes
I bought gold earrings for at least half the price i would have to pay in Norway, in Djerba everything is really cheap!
Then we had to go back to norway, sabotage!!
I have never had such a holliday and it was so sad to have to leave! All the memories and all my new friends, chaleur!! I’m going back, c’est sûr! I left my heart in Tunisia <3 chaleur chaleur!!
